You have a manuscript. It's a novel or a screenplay. You've worked your tail off on it. Months, maybe years... If you've shown it to friends, maybe they've lied to you. Or have they?

If you haven't shown it, you've lied to yourself.

CRITIQUES

THE PROFESSIONAL'S ANSWER TO CLASSROOMS

Bloodsong

As a professional author and screenwriter, my help to you is based on a thorough, detailed, and individualized critique of your completed manuscript.

It is a practical technique. It eliminates classroom work and well-intentioned tinkering.

Because teaching you how to write a manuscript that you might someday write just doesn't work.

Some years ago I moved to the Great Northwest after a screenwriting stint at Warner Brothers and 19 published books, among them some best-sellers: "Overboard," "Crowded Sky," and "Sounding."

I'd created "The New Breed" TV series for QM Productions, starring Leslie Nielsen, adapted screenplays, novelized "Jaws 2" and "Jaws: The Revenge" for Universal, sold a number of other freelance screen and TV scripts. I needed to kick back.

.Puget Sound

Here, working out of a tranquil office on Puget Sound, I began two WRITERS WORKSHOPS to help new and professional authors and screenwriters:

HANK SEARLS AUTHORS WORKSHOP

and

HANK SEARLS SCREENWRITERS WORKSHOP.

After scores of clients, professional and amateur, I've learned that the way to make a manuscript marketable is to critique it, objectively and in detail.

My personal, one-on-one workshops assume that no writer motivated to produce a readable full-length novel or a hundred-page screenplay is a mere wannabe. He or she is entitled to a detailed, one-on-one professional consultation by a published author or credited screenwriter.

Experience with clients, both professional authors and amateurs, proved that a professional critique by a published author or credited screenwriter, followed by the author's or screenwriter's own re-write, results in a salable work.

Not always -- publishing and screenwriting are brutal crap-shoots -- this you know.

But more frequently than a college class, a correspondence course, or help from friends and family.

If you have a finished book-length manuscript or screenplay, perhaps I can help you, too.

And if you haven't, some day you might.

So stick around, click around, visit SEARLS' PEARLS, check HANK'S BOOKS and HANK'S SCREENPLAYS.

You may learn some veteran tricks.
